In September 2024, the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) blocked access to the entire Steam store following the discovery of a controversial fighting game involving religious deities, Fight of Gods. The ban was lifted one day later after Valve agreed to block the game in Malaysia.
Are VPNs legal in Malaysia? Yes. Although the MCMC has blocked certain websites and services in the past, using a VPN is still legal in Malaysia. Keep in mind, however, any activity which Malaysia considers illegal is still illegal whether or not you use a VPN.
