Moder, also known as The Creature, is the main antagonist of Adam Nevill's 2011 novel called The Ritual and its 2024 film adaptation.
In the attic, he finds a congregation of the rotting living dead humans that, through their worship of the Jtunn, have been given a nightmarish version of everlasting life. By the look of them, they could even be the last remnants of the original settlers of the area.
