The 2024 FIFA Club World Cup will start on Tuesday as Saudi Arabia's Jeddah will be hosting the 20th edition. Hosts and defending Saudi champions Al-Ittihad will play against New Zealand's Auckland City, the reigning OFC Champions League winners, in the first round at Jeddah's King Abdullah Sports City Stadium.
The FIFA Council has unanimously approved the key principles of the new 32-team FIFA Club World Cup!", which will be played every four years as of June 2025. The last edition of the tournament to be played with the old format will take place in Saudi Arabia in December 2024.
