Extrait de parfum, also known as parfum or pure perfume is the highest concentration of scent, containing 15-40% (usually 20 30%) of aromatic compounds. Eau de parfum (EDP) has the next highest concentration of fragrance. Eau de parfum generally has a fragrance concentration of between 15% and 20%.
Unlike Eau de Parfum, an Extract is a perfume with a great percentage of raw materials and that is why it feels oily. An Extrait de Parfum, much less used and little known compared to classical EDP, usually goes in a smaller bottle because of its valuable composition and packaging and high price.
