The Fenerbahe Galatasaray rivalry is the primary Istanbul derby and the most important rivalry in Turkish football; matches between the two teams are known as The Intercontinental Derby (Turkish: K1talararas1 Derbi).
Fenerbahe was founded as a football club in 1907 in Istanbul, Ottoman Empire, by Ziya Songlen (then Nurizade Ziya Bey), Ayetullah Bey and Necip Okaner (then Enver Necip Bey).
