The only legalized gambling venue in the area for many years, Sunland Park, was opened in 1959 as a Thoroughbred racing track. The place today has over 700 slot machines in play. The casino is open 112 hours a week and offers many electronic table games, including roulette, blackjack, and Texas Hold 'Em.
